The Heat is On

The past two weeks have been very, very hot. We have┬ámoved quickly from one air conditioned space to another and done our best to stay cool. The kids don’t mind the heat as much, they love being outside regardless of the weather. So we have tried to spend some time outside in the evening after dinner each night. Yesterday was the hottest day yet – the temperature hovered in the high 90’s with a heat index topping 105 degrees. We went to a friend’s house and the kids started playing inside and one-by-one wandered outside to play. They changed into bathing suits and swam in the pool and played on the water slide. Once Ruslan was in the pool he was happy to play in there with Juliana. I have no idea how many times Wyatt went down the water slide, but it was a lot. He lined up with the older kids and slid and splashed over and over again with a huge smile on his face the entire time.

In fact the kids had so much fun that we bought something new for our backyard. More on that tomorrow (spoiler alert: it holds lots of water). In the meantime here are a bunch of pictures of the kids having a blast in the water yesterday. They were all sad it was time to come inside and get dressed and Wyatt cried when we told him it was time to go and continued to cry as we drove away.

Oh, I love the pictures!! Just looking at them cools me off a little. The heat has been even tougher on me this year than usual. Your pool is great and I know y’all will enjoy many hours. Grandmothers get nervous when they see pools and little children but I immediately relaxed when I remember what careful parents you both are……and I remember the big one-on-one watch at the peninsula (with the 4th one watching from the blanket)…which reminds me, isn’t time for another visit like that. They loved it so much! And I sure love seeing them. Enjoy your pool. Love, GRAM

  • that slide looks like tons of fun, too. love the smiles on your kids!
